The Farm Gnomes
Some very dear friends of mine collect gnomes, especially Christmas ones. Helping decorate their house one year, I was amazed at all of the gnomes… One by one, they came out of the boxes and were set carefully, either on the mantle, the table, the couch, the window, or under the tree. I didn’t understand it.
Until one day, I became obsessed with them myself. Mind you, mine are not soft and furry. Mine are made to be outdoors and come from various places and are purchased typically when they are on sale. And sometimes I buy their little houses.
It has given me great pleasure to wander around the woods with a new gnome in my pocket, only to discover where he or she wants to live. Some find themselves at the base of trees, others on rocks or tucked in between flowers.
One day, my husband went for a stroll in the woods and came back so excited to tell me about something incredible he had seen. He challenged me to see it for myself, without any clue as to where or what I was looking for. I followed him down the path, trying hard to be observant as I looked high and low for what caught his eye. After we passed it and I missed it, he brought me back and pointed to the little yellow mushroom-looking thing that was sticking out from the fold of a tree. He thought it was the most amazing mushroom he had ever seen! Unfortunately, I had to burst his bubble and tell him it was a gnome house that I tucked away months earlier.
That little yellow house was apparently the first clue that the gnomes had already begun taking up residence at Pasture Prime Acres.
Introducing the Gnomes of Pasture Prime Acres. They oversee activity around the farm and forest—especially when we are not there. They also serve as our customer-service department. Send us a note through the website, and one of them will be the first to respond.
Which one? Well, you never quite know who you are going to get.
