The Dogs’ Report: An Overnight Inspection

On Friday, we were loaded into the truck under the guise that we were headed to one of our favorite places:  the farm.  However, we were not told the whole story.

We arrived at the farm and engaged in our usual inspection of the property.  No other people were there that day—just us and our humans.   We supervised work on the field, checking to see what interesting things were turned up to nibble on.  From a distance, we oversaw work in the apiary, having previously learned our lesson about playing with bees.  They don’t care to be pawed and kissed.  No, we didn’t fill out a Daily Activity Report (DAR).

As the sun started to go down, we expected to be loaded back in the truck to head home.  It was at that point that we learned we would be spending the night in the cabin. Apparently, our humans consider this to be an adventure.  We considered it an unscheduled overnight assignment involving unfamiliar noises, questionable sleeping arrangements, and far too many things that needed to be watched, sniffed, or barked at.

By the time we returned home on Saturday, we were exhausted.

Our humans seemed pleased with the trip.

Overall assessment: We love visiting the farm, but management should reconsider the staffing requirements for overnight shifts.

  • Smells: 10/10

  • Sleeping accommodations: under review

  • Snacks: fried chicken skins make up for a lot

  • Likelihood of returning: apparently very high
